Introduction
I am an immigrant from Hyderabad, India who moved to United States in late 2016. I have seen and experienced the cultural environment of both India and United States. The culture and living conditions both vary from nation to nation, depending upon the historical as well as contemporary social values.
In fact, due to the impact of globalization, the modern scenarios of living in any nation of the world have changed rapidly (King, 2021). This is more such as supporting the perception that entire world is a global village, in which citizens of every nation are allowed to live and work in any nation other than the host nation they belong to of their choice.
However, still there are some core components, which I have experienced since moving from India in 2016, which define the overall identity of the region, state or even nation. It differentiates the region from the rest of the world. In the following essay, I will write about the social, political, economic and religious aspects compared for Chicago and Hyderabad, as per my observation and experience of the two places.
I. Geographical Location and Climate Resources: United States and India
As per the geographical location, India is the second largest democratic nation in the world originating in the Asian region. India has a glorious past of having its boundaries extended to Afghanistan in west and to Sri Lanka in south. However, the nation could see several invasions of Muslim emperors during the Middle Ages and afterwards, it became a part of British colonial system.
For a period of more than 1000 years, India remained under the control of foreign rulers. It was only after the 1947 that the nation could be annexed on the map of the world as a free democracy (Beasley, Jones-Locklear & Jacobs, 2021).The climate of the nation is exceptionally diverse; there is permanent winter in the extreme north while permanent summer in the extreme south. However, in the middle regions this is where I was living, I have experienced three major seasons a year namely, winter, summer and rainy season (spring). Back in Hyderabad, India, winter can go as low as 30 degrees and as high as 80 degrees Fahrenheit and it is not as cold as it is here in Chicago, which can go as low as 0 degrees and as high as 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
When it comes to summer in Hyderabad the weather goes as high as 110 degrees Fahrenheit and as low as 85 degrees Fahrenheit, I experienced in Chicago that I like and it is the best weather, which stays from 70 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit. I have not experienced much of a difference in spring season; both places have a similar average weather, which stays from 40-60 degrees Fahrenheit during this span of the time.
Contrary to Indian geography, Chicago is the city council of Illinois State. It is located in the northeastern region with Great Michigan Lake holding one end of the city. The city is known for some great architectural beauties such as Chicago Portage and lakesides. It is third most populated city in the mid-western region of United States after New York and Los Angeles.
It was annexed as the city of United States in 1837. It shares boundaries with Michigan and Mississippi River (Beasley et al., 2021). India is also divided into 29 states as of now. These states are further divided into provinces and districts, based on the certain population living in each part. The population can vary from district to district, as there is no fixed rule to set such boundaries.
II. Government
The fundamental difference I have learned between India's and the United States' governments are that India's government is parliamentary, whereas the United States has a presidential system. In India, there are hundreds of regional and smaller parties on the political arena, despite the fact that there are currently only two large national parties, the INC and the BJP.
On the other hand, in United States, there are two main political parties the Republican and Democratic Parties. Back in India, I have only seen and lived with only one constitution for the entire country. However, what I learned here in United States is that it is governed by a federal system, in which each state has its own constitution. In addition, here the federal government and state governments share authority in this system.
In particular, since they are abstract ideals, values include a broad variety of actions that serve as great examples of the notions. The disparities between social groups may be seen as such by people as an outcome of variations between groups in the particular actions that are considered as embodiments of distinct values, even though other behaviors that are illustrations of the principles are not different. As a result, while looking about groups in terms of particular situations, it is possible that discrepancies outweigh commonalities.
III. Economy
The economic aspects of Chicago and India differ greatly upon the bases of the financial evolutions. While Chicago has earned fame for becoming hub of telecommunication, transportation and construction industry, Indian economy is still under the process of development (Bird, 2018). The major difference between the economies of the two is based on the developed and developing norms set by the international norms of assessing the economic escalations.
When it comes to the Chicago area, there are many options. A prominent participant are in every industry, from risk management innovation to production to digital technologies to health care, Chicago has one of the most varied economies in the country. Despite the fact that options trading are taking place on an increasingly global scale, Chicago is arguably still the geographic epicenter of worldwide commodity derivatives — in terms of markets, volume and skill.
For India, the economic aspects are growing steadily and a majority of Indian population still relies on conventional norms of agricultural economy. In Indian context, the economic expansions are like still in baby form i.e. the growth of industrial sector and merging of national economy with international trends is still progressing.
While it is acknowledged that the global situation remains unclear, it is also realized that this is not the case. Currently, a fresh wave of the Omicron variety is spreading throughout the globe, inflation has increased in almost all nations and major central banks are beginning the process of withdrawing liquidity from their respective markets. As a result, it is particularly crucial to examine India's socioeconomic stabilization metrics and their capacity to act as a cushion against with the preceding pressures and strains.
Decentralization of several industries, process simplification and the elimination of legacy concerns such as "retrospective taxation," privatization and production-linked incentives, among other things are all part of the supply-side reforms underway. Indeed, the government's dramatic rise in capital investment may be seen as a requirement and liquidity reaction, since it increases the availability of physical infrastructure for future development.
