Communication depends on more than just our words. It also includes our facial expressions, posture, gestures, and tone of voice. Create a list of several different ways we communicate in our personal, academic, and professional lives (for example, face-to-face conversations, text messages, email, Facebook). Which aspects of communication are preserved and omitted in each of these communication forms, and what types of communication errors might arise as a result? How can we use scientific thinking and our knowledge of language and communication to prevent these errors?
