People suffering from the learning disabilities often suffered from mental health issues. Mental health disorders are wide range of disorders which affect the mood, thinking, and behaviour of the individual. Mental health disorder includes many kinds of disorders like anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, clinical depression, dementia, and attention deficient hyperactive disorder. As mentioned by Cooper et al. (2015), adult suffering from learning disabilities often suffered from mental health issues. Learning disability makes the person vulnerable to the mental health issues because learning disabled people suffered from deprivation, social exclusion, and poverty. It has been difficult to diagnose mental health issues in people suffering from learning disabilities as these were often misunderstood as single issue.

They worked hard to improve the quality of care provided to the people with learning disorders and mental health issues. They formed the care homes for these people and provide the financial assistance to the families who are taking care of the family members associated with these disorders. The non-governmental agencies play important role in reaching those people who failed to avail the services provided by the government. These agencies put effort in producing low cost models which can support all the people suffering from the disorders. Apart from this, some of the non-government agencies help the people living alone with supporting technologies. As noted by Lancioniand Singh (2014), supported technologies can be defined as the technologies which can be help to assist people suffering from disabilities. These technologies can be helpful in guiding the individual in completing their task. These agencies also play important role in making availability to the care home for these people. They also played important role in reaching people who failed to make use of available government agencies.

Many of the agencies trained the staff in communicating with the people suffering from mental health issues. They trained the staff in dealing with the uncertain situation which can put the life of either staff or patients in danger. They support the working staff by fulfilling their demands such as increment in the salary or increase in the working staff to reduce the work pressure. As noted by Sims, Hewitt, and Harris (2015), these agencies collaborated and ensure coordination among the staff which work to support adults with learning disabilities and mental health issues. This allows pooling of the resources which help the staff in providing high quality care to the adults without strain on themselves. Collaboration and communication between the staff allowed the exchange of knowledge between staff. This helps staff in providing evidence-based care to the adults with disabilities. Another benefit for the staff is that they can take help from each other in handling severe patients. Apart from this, staff is given assistance by agencies in handling the issues related to the adults which is beneficial in reducing the work pressure of the staff.
