Collect baseline data. Once all of the prior steps have been completed, you’re ready to begin collecting preintervention or baseline information. This will give you a basis for comparison with data collected during and after intervention to evaluate effectiveness. It will also be crucial for assessment because the actual level of occurrence of behavior, as well as where and when it occurs, will become clear. This will then allow you to develop a clear and specific goal statement.
