Research Study:
Brief Overview:
The research study here focuses mainly on the business models, Customer relationship management(CRM) and target segments of Walmart, Target and Costco as com
panies whose main focus is on organised retail. It is seen that Costco’s target market is quite different from that of Walmart and Target.
Identification of the Problem:
They generally target the rich and the affluent class of the consumers while Walmart and Target actually focusses on the diverse class of people form the middle, upper middle and the upper class. In terms of the gross margins also there is a difference. The gross margin of Walmart is double of Costco and Target in general. Costco for that matter has additional expenses on the books in terms of paying living wages and hazard pay to their workers which is not needed in case of Walmart and Target.
Hypothesis:
It is also seen over the years that Walmart has good a good number of store network across the globe and they have a string supply chain management to keep stocks available to the consumers. They also focus in improving the in store customer experience and also reach out better to the customers in terms of advertising and promotions. This is not to be seen in case of Costco. In terms of confidentiality also Walmart, has a reliable database management system where they ensure that consumer details and data is not divulged. In target and Costco, they need to put some extra efforts in that front pertaining to data security.
Design Experiment:
To furnish any sort of information about the customer’s or even internally in the organisation, proper consent is needed. The confidentiality of the passwords and data also needs to be secured specially in the sectors where there is knifes edge competition.
