Manage Discussion EntryHi Marcus,
It is true that there is a highdemand for big data workers. Big Data by itself is not useful. It must be turned into information. A skilled Data Analyst is necessary to find meaning and useful insights from the copious amount of data available. By all accounts, data analysis is a challenging job that requires a high level of skill. The data generated by research studies is hard enough to analyze, but the task is easy compared to analyzing Big Data.
Do you think IO psychologists have the requisite skills to find meaning from Big Data sets?

Big data impacts the work of IO psychologists because it communicates a lot of important insights that professionals need to put into consideration when making important decisions about organization. For example, contemporary customers are always looking for a shopping experience. Therefore, IO psychologists can use big data to develop the specific customer shopping experiences that would keep them coming back to the organization. In addition, a contemporary consumer is so informed and this means that in circumstances where an organization cannot understand and meet the immediate need of the consumer, customers tend to find other options because of the presence of technology (Botelho, 2020).
The advantages of using big data in psychological research are the fact that psychologist would come across important insights and trends about the organization that might change the story of the business in the marketplace. For example, survival is the biggest reality of most organizations in the market. Therefore, finding insights that help an organization to develop a strong competitive edge is very important. One of the disadvantages of big data is the fact that processing huge amounts of data takes time and it might impact the bottom line of a business. Therefore, when IO psychologists are working with big data, they should look for the following trends, customer needs, volume of data, insights from the data, problems of the organization, and what the current marketplace is looking for in organizations.
