Assessment 1 is an individual assessment. In assessment 1, you are assigned tasks which assess your course knowledge gained between weeks 1 and 5 about different facets of systems development. All students will have to write a report showing the answers to the questions in tasks 1-5 below.

1. Introduction
Allsports is a sports club which manages the various activities of functional activities through
manual processes. Word and excel utilities are used internally to manage the various key
transactions associated with members, advertisers and editing of news letters. Allsports Sport
club requires online application to automate the various activities of its functional processes. In
this regard a software development methodology is needed to take to develop the information
system for the sports club to automate the Automated membership management, newsletter
editing by selected members of sports club, newsletter publishing on defined schedule and time,
advertising with the help of advertisers and various tasks associated with other administrative
and key transactions.
The aim of this project ‘ASCIS’ is to develop the information system for sports club to automate
the activities and processes. These activities and processes are are as follows.
 Membership registration and selection of sports available with sport club
 Payment of requisite fee for membership
 Assigning the identifier for newsletter to sort them for publication on given schedule and
timeframe
 Automatic naming of the newsletter file to store
 Selection of members for editing the newsletter
 Centralized control of key transactions of all the activities under sports club
 Scheduling the advertisement with advertiser
The team members of HighVoltage information services along with the manager of project
ASCIS have to develop the information system for sports club to automate the above manual
functional system to information system based applications to automate these processes and
activities.
2. Approach to Systems Development
2.1 Existing System of Sports Club
The current existing system of sports club is complete manual functional and procedural system.
The registered members are emailed by vice president of sports club to get edited newsletters for
weekly publishing. Some of the members have also not email address so that they do not sports.
Similarly, for advertisement the sports club manually process with the advertiser to advertise the
forthcoming events of the sports club. By the mentioned manual process sports club publishes 10
newsletters and 5 paid advertisements. There are 5 hourly members are selected by vice
president of the sports club to do the administrative functions associated with sports club. The
selected sports club member also acts as an editor of the newsletter. At existing situation there is
word processor and excel utility software packages are used by the sports club to store and
handle the key transactional activities associated with membership, advertising, publishing and

create the weekly schedule for publishing by assigning the name of newsletter, advertisements,
and processing the details of members. These manual processes of the sports club causes more
cost, and also delay in management to meet the deadline for advertising and publishing the
advertisement and newsletters respectively.
2.2 Approach to Develop the Information System for Sports Club
System development is a software development life cycle methodology where a project is taken
