Cohen and Younger conducted a study into when infants perceive whole forms. They habituated infants to an angle and then tested them with either a stimulus in which the size of the angle had changed but the orientation of the two component lines remained the same or a stimulus in which the size of the angle remained the same but the orientation of the lines had changed. They found that by 3 months of age infants seem to perceive the whole form. This was demonstrated by the finding that 3-month-olds:
c.visually scanned the entire angle.
