CMNS A1 MEMO A6: Proposal Presentation 20% CMNS1140/Dunbar 1 Assignment Overview & Objectives Presentations are a communications tool used in many job functions, industries, and professional scenarios. This assignment will allow you to practice creating a professional slideshow and deliver an engaging pre-recorded, online presentation. The purpose of this presentation is to get approval on the topic, questions, and format you will use in you A7: Career Research Report (it may be helpful to review those instructions before you start this project). Therefore, the purpose of your proposal is to convince me (your CMNS 1140 instructor) that you have a viable and valid research proposal for your final report. I am your primary audience for this proposal. Prior to beginning this assignment, you may find it helpful to review the description and requirements for the final A7: Career Research Report. You will apply many skills you have learned this semester to this project, including communicating to a specific audience, persuasive writing, visual communications, and design, adapting messages for different mediums, writing research questions, and more. You are encouraged to review feedback from past assignments and notes from previous modules to support your development of this proposal presentation. Instructions Develop a 4-5-minute presentation on a career area or field that you are interested in, which you will also use for your final report. This includes a slideshow and recorded oral presentation. Answer the following questions and use these requirements as the basis for the sections of your proposal: • Include an Introduction in which you identify the career area or field you will be exploring in your final report. Clearly define the field using a professional or academic source other than the dictionary or a random blog that explains/defines your field. (Cite sources) • Briefly describe some of the Current Issues or Trends that impact your intended professional field. Example questions: Why is it important that you are aware of this issue or trend now? Are any of them controversial? What are the complexities? Are any current world event(s) impacting this field? Etc. (Cite sources) • Describe your Personal Interest in this field. What is drawing you to this career? (This is a personal statement, so no citations are required in this section.) • Introduce Two Research Questions about your field you would like to research in your final report.
