Clusters of Galaxies Clusters of galaxies contain different numbers and distributions of galaxies. In this exercise you can use Starry Night Enthusiast™ to compare a few of these groupings. Select Favourites
 Deep Space
 Galaxies
Virgo Cluster from the menu. Position the cursor over one of the prominent galaxies in the center of the view and open the object contextual menu (right-click on a PC, Ctrl-click on a Mac) and select Highlight “GA Virgo Cluster” Filament. Use the Increase current elevation (∧) button in the toolbar until the complete cluster, highlighted in yellow, is visible in the view. Use the Location Scroller to examine the cluster from various viewpoints. What is the general shape of the Virgo cluster? If you see other groupings of galaxies as you move the screen, make a sketch of the screen and circle what you believe are other groups on your sketch. To see how astronomers have grouped these other galaxies, open the object contextual menu over a galaxy within a suspected group and select the Highlight option to see the extent of the group to which this galaxy belongs. Choose three of these clusters, centre and zoom in on them, as necessary, and use the Location Scroller to study them. Describe their distributions of galaxies compared to the Virgo Cluster. For example, what are their shapes and relative sizes compared to Virgo and to each other?
