  2. Explain how marriage is a contract with the state.

  3. Examine and discuss three (3) rights and / or benefits that are conferred by marriage.

  4. Describe the process of ending spousal relationships and examine three (3) challenges that may occur as a result of ending the relationship.

  5. Use at least two (2) quality resources in this assignment.Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources.

Q1. A Brief Summary of the Definition of a Family
The word “Family” comes from the Latin word “Familia”, it refers to the social unit consists of parents and children living together in a household. It is a group of people identified by birth and by marriage. It is an institution and unit of socialization, as human is a social animal, it is an important part of lives of humankind in most of the societies. Family is a group of people living together with support and love, irrespective of the good and bad times. It mainly includes father, mother and child.
On the other hand, there many definition of family. Blood family that consists your father, mother and grandparents- this family provides love and nurture of the child (Bosslet, Lo & White, 2017). This family group is responsible for the upbringing and inculcating value in the child. Government agencies also give different definition of family. It has bearing on access of resources like recreational, health education and mental health services. Family word is said to be universal, it is found in every societies including commitment, state, educational organization and religious.
It has different meaning according to geographical location example African-American, Southeast Asia and American- India (Bosslet et al., 2017). According to the function definition of the family it includes- sharing of common resources and moneymaking property, commitment with other member of family with love, care and support (Nygren, 2016). This definition of family does not include unmarried couple and non-custodial partner who are not be able to pay for their child’s upbringing.
Legally sanctioned marriage where couple not having any meaningful relation but they stay together out of social pressure also not consider as a family. It is impossible to define definition of family as its meaning changes from situation to situation and types of issue. for example structural definition says family includes blood relation or adopted child, on the other hand functional definition says that whosoever can provide proper care and support to the child is his/her family.
Q2. Explaining How Marriage is a Contract with the State
Marriage in all terms is commanded by state and the parties include in the marriage have to agree with all the terms laid out by the state, with no negotiations and exceptions. On the other hand, the Marriage State Law differs from country to country. The State can alter the terms and condition whenever they want, even after the commencement of marriage, with asking the concerned parties (Houlgate, 2017). Mutual consent of parties not only requires for ending the marriage, State is responsible for the termination of marriage too.
