The leader of the group is going to talk to the team. Based on the previous years’ experience and current situation in the company he is about to send an e-mail to the group. In the first situation, he is trying to reduce stress in the group that arises from a number of reasons. He knows that some people in the group perceive this project as a waste of time because they will have to be at the fair instead of being in their offices – it makes them feel more stressed as they worry they are going to be behind their schedule on their regular work. The leader influences and persuades to change the attitude and behavior of the
employees. There are different styles of leadership. The two styles of leadership that are
discussed here are autocratic and democratic. Autocratic leaders have maximum co
ntrol over the
members and processes. They have complete powers of decision making, giving orders and
allocating resources. Democratic leaders encourage high level of employee involvement in
decision making process by asking them for suggestions and feedbacks.
In this assignment, the two styles of leadership would be applied on how to reduce stress
and increase productivity throughout the organization. To explain the difference in approach to
communication and attitudes of the leaders, four emails would be written reflecting the
difference in the way an autocratic and a democratic leader would write emails to their
employees for reducing stress and increasing productivity. The scenario that is identified for
considering as background for writing these emails is that the second quarter end is approaching
and it is very important for the company to meet its half yearly targets. So, all employees are
working hard towards meeting the targets. The stress level among the employees is high and
there is pressure from the top to increase productivity.
Firstly, the leader is working towards reducing stress of the employees. The stress arises
from work related pressure, internal conflicts within the group, job related dissatisfaction,
dissatisfaction with managers, etc. Moreover, now it is crucial for all employees to focus on
targets. Two emails are written in autocratic and democratic style respectively to address the
employees about a meeting and how to work towards reducing stress. Secondly, the leader tries
to improve productivity of the employees. As the half year end is approaching and a large target
is yet to be met, the employees need to improve their productivity and meet the targets in a short
