Socrates said that soul is immortal. This is inscribed in The Phaedo also known as On the Soul. It is often regarded as the best known argument put forward by him. The argument between Socrates and his disciple is about the fact that soul is immortal. It was a very interesting piece of conversation that held between Socrates and Plato when he was about to die in few subsequent hours.
The main theme of the Phaedo is the argument that soul never dies, it is immortal. He discussed the nature of afterlife when he was being made to drink hemlock as part of his execution. He further argues that though human body is mortal and eventually perishes, there is soul that continues to live.
