Choose at least one of the Federalist Papers. You can choose to compare more than one if you like. Some are available in your text. They are all available on the Internet, as well as the library. Read through the essay and take notes. Ask yourself these questions:

What is the thesis? What is the author arguing?

Is the author persuasive? Or does he miss the point?

Is the evidence there to support the thesis?

Begin your essay with the answer to these questions. The bulk of your essay should demonstrate how you feel about the author’s argument. Do you agree? Do you disagree? Does the argument still hold in our world today? Were the founders off the mark or did they have excellent foresight in setting up our government and predicting the problems future generations would face?
