Introduction
Illicit substances directly interact with the central nervous system and causes high addiction. Youth are more attracted to these illicit substances and it can cause serious damages to them if used excessively. Out of all the early substance is we will talk about LSD or Lysergic acid diethylamide. LSD is the abbreviation of a German word. LSD is an extremely powerful hallucinogen synthetic from the lysergic acid. It is primarily used in recreational purposes. LSD is named differently in different places; it is also called blotter, dot, mellow yellow windowpane and many more.
Background of LSD
Albert Hoffman first synthesized LSD in 1938 from a chemical of fungus ergot. Five years later when Hoffman added another chemical into it, the recreational potential of LSD was exposed. LSD was announced as psychiatric drug in 1947. As opined by Lyvers (2016), it was announced to be drug capable of curing schizophrenia, other mental disorders, sexual perversion to criminal mentality. It became hugely popular in 1960's and remained popular until 1980's. In USA, LSD has been announced illegal by the drug enforcement agency or DEA.
Forms of LSD
Electricity is synthesized in crystalline forms and later reacted with other ingredients. It is white in color and tastes bad. LSD is sold in different forms such as blotter paper (LSD soaked in the paper with colorful graphics), gelatin square, tablets and liquid forms.
Process of Consumption
Two processes popularly consume LSD. One can snort it into the body such as breathe in with nose or inject it into the veins. Both of the processes can be fatal if not done carefully.
Duration
The acid takes 20 minutes to kick in after the consumption. The effects of the consumption can extend 2 to 3 days. Both of them depend on the quality and quantity of consumption of the acid. It can be seen in the urine of the addict after two or three days.
Risks
The consumption of LSD has not been known as deadly lethal; but there have been cases where the addicts have died of accident after the consumption. Therefore, a person already suffering from physical and mental distress should refer himself from using it.

The excessive use of LSD makes a person primary numb and dull. It can also cause nausea and hypothermia. The increased blood sugar and weakness is a common phenomenon.
