Choose 8 different microbes:

  1. listing of the lab tests necessary to identify this microbe

  2. You must include the scientific name for your organism, as well as the common name, if there is one.

  3. The identifying characteristics of your organism, and its pathogenicity.

All references to lab characteristics must include any lab activities you researched, (examples for this include Gram stain, sucrose; lactose; glucose fermentation characteristics, catalase test, if appropriate; resistance/susceptibility results, if completed; and all other appropriate biochemical tests a lab would perform to ID this organism)

If your microbe is a pathogen, you must also discuss how your pathogenic organisms affect 1-3 different organ systems in the body, and mechanisms to control the growth of those organisms.

Introduction
Microbes are considered as; the most diverse organisms present on the planet earth.
These are popular among scientists because of their significant roles in fermentation,
decomposition and pathogenicity etc.
Therefore; numerous tests have been developed by
researchers for the purpose of their identification as well as characterization. These steps can be
termed necessary for application of microbes in varied fields such as; production of food items,
manufacturing of vaccines and protection of environment through development of bio-fertilizers
and by means of bio-remediation etc. Here are few examples which can reflect how microbes can
be described on the basis of their key features:
Staphylococci
Staphylococci are perfectly spherical microbes with 1 micrometer diameter which usually
form light colored (yellow/white) colonies in the presence of rich medium. These are facultative
anaerobes that can develop by aerobic respiration or through fermentation. Because of their
anaerobic growth, lactic acid can be produced. Two main microbes which belong to this group
are as follows:
1. Staphylococcus aureus (common name: Golden staph /Oro staphira)
S.aureus is a facultative anaerobic Gram-positive coccal bacterium which can grow at 15
- 45 degree C and may also tolerate even 15% NaCl concentration. It can produce coagulase and
is considered as; a potential disease causing agent because it can invade the tissues and may
cause Staphylococcal Scalded Skin Syndrome (SSSS) etc diseases.

Presence of S.aureus can be distinguished through its hemolytic reaction on blood
agar. Besides, its other identifying features are: its catalase-positive and oxidase-negative nature
and glucose as well as mannitol sugar fermenting abilities. After detection, it can be treated with
the assistance of an antibiotic ointment like; nonprescription triple-antibiotic mixture (for
example; in case of minor skin infections) or through antibiotics as; penicillin....
