Chemistry

In a continuously operated bioreactor metabolic heat is generated at the rate of 4 kW. Also, mixing is adding 300 W in terms of heat generated from friction in the bioreactor. A nearby lake (15°C) is used as cooling water source for maintaining the temperature at 35°C. Assuming heat transfer occurs only between cooling water and bioreactor, calculate the required flow rate of cooling water for this process. Do not forget to make assumption(s) that are necessary to solve this problem. (Cp water = 4.18 kJ⋅K−1⋅kg−1, 1 W = 1 J/s).
