Introduction
Every workplace have individuals from different backgrounds, this difference may not be necessarily in terms of caste or religion or color instead, there can be differences among their cultures, ethnicity and beliefs. All these prior mentioned aspects leads to diversity at workplace. It is necessary to consider that workplace diversity in hospitality industry is enormous due to dynamic working posts as well as job requirements. Especially in restaurants, work place diversity can play a major role and this report focuses upon the various aspects of work place diversity at a restaurant. Further, this report may discuss various advantages of diversity at workplace along with several recommendations to promote workplace diversity.
Workplace Diversity at restaurants
Restaurants are one of the major part of hospitality industry that can reflect enormous workplace diversity. This is majorly due to the variability as well as dynamicity in the work and working positions. Further, it may be necessary to consider that workplace diversity is not only confined to race, caste, and religion or gender instead, it also includes aspects such as disability, diversity in thinking and beliefs as well as socioeconomic status[footnoteRef:1]. Race and ethnicity are terms that defines the individual based upon their ancestry and therefore, is responsible for a major workplace diversity because every individual may have a certain and unique race and ethnicity. Along with this, age and generation gap among workers is common[footnoteRef:2]. Chefs or the kitchen workers can be experienced and aged while the floor staff and stewards may be young and this leads to workplace diversity.
