Chase is an 8-year old male who has recently noticed an exacerbation of asthma. Chase’s mother reports that she does not smoke cigarettes. When asked if there have been any recent changes that could explain the exacerbation, Chase’s mother states that she and her son recently moved in with her parents while their house is being built. There are no animals in the house, and although both parents smoke cigarettes, they do not smoke around Chase or when Chase is in the house. Chase’s mother did acknowledge that her parents did not have the same amount of “controls” in their home as she and Chase had in their previous home.
