The exclusionary rule is a constitutional law in the United
States which forbids evidence collected or analyzed in violation of the constitutional rights of a defendant from being used in the court of law. Until the independence of United States, the courts of England excluded self incriminating evidence where in an individual would have to give a statement or evidence against oneself due to official compulsion regardless of its viability. Illegal coercion could lead to evidence which, though against the defendant, is filled with prejudice and is not reliable. The exclusionary rule aims at avoiding this situation and giving a fair chance to the defendant (McKee, A.J, 2018).
