Cash handling––a common element in many religious institutions is presence of cash from donations. As such, cash handling procedures need to be in place. Common cash handling procedures can include cash bags that have seals to prevent reopening them, “two-person” carry and counting procedures, emptying all donation boxes/locations periodically, and signage that notifies would-be criminals that there is no cash on hand. Members can also be encouraged to donate using electronic fund transfers and checks instead of cash.
