The case study must use one of the following IT-based scenarios: Planning and implementing new or updating existing software for a business. Planning and implementing a new or updating an existing network for a business. Planning and implementing a new or updating an existing network component for a business. You are encouraged to select your own scenario, but you may choose one of the examples from Project Plan Case Study Scenarios, linked in the Resources. Team Contract The first project component is the team contract. The purpose of a contract is to ensure that all project team members are aware, and in agreement with, the guidelines of their roles within the project. A template is provided for you to complete. You will fill out the template as you would if you were actually working with a team on a project. Complete the following for your team contract: Use the Project Plan Template, linked in the Resources, provided for this activity. There are suggestions for additional information you may include in the document to clarify the particular project you are working on. Identify tools, skills, and norms of a project team. Establish team norms about decision making, communication, and other key areas related to teaming and collaboration. State clearly and concisely team commitments and provide sound ground rules for project success. Project Charter Develop a project charter for your course project. Use the Project Plan Template and modify as needed for your particular project. You may include more sections if you feel this is necessary, but you are required to at least fill in all of the sections provided. Remember that the charter is a high-level look at the project that tells the project's story. Complete the following for your project charter: Use the template provided for this activity. Provide an overall project budget. Define project objectives that are achievable and stated in terms of the expected outcomes and critical success factors. Document project risks. Document project constraints. Document project assumptions. Add sections as necessary to complete your project charter. There are suggestions in the template. Provide at least two references from the Internet in the development of your project charter. Include a list of APA-formatted references in the references section of the project plan template. Prior to submitting your project team contract and project charter, consult the assignment scoring guide and the Information Technology Project Plan course project description to ensure that you have met all of the requirements of this project component. More on the Project Plan Template The Project Plan Template was created to assist you in completing a project plan for this course. The template is in Microsoft Word 2010 format; however, earlier versions of Microsoft Word may be used to edit the template if the appropriate patches have been installed. There are comments and guidance throughout the template to guide you through the project plan creation process. Following the directions in the document, remove the comments and guidance in the section you have completed before submitting to your instructor. This document also contains a table of contents that will expand and contract based on information added or taken out. You may add information to the project plan to augment and clarify project information.
