Ovarian Cancer
Mrs. P, a 32-year-old woman, is diagnosed with small cell carcinoma of the ovary, FIGO III C. Diagnosis occurred during a Cesarean section. A complete total abdominal hysterectomy and lymphadenectomy was performed. The histology exam reported that she had lymphatic metastasis in 20 of 70 removed pelvic and para-aortic lymph nodes. She was treated with three cycles of chemotherapy followed by whole abdomen radiotherapy (RT). Mrs. P is an unusually successful long-term survivor of five years.
