Case Study of the Climate of Mount Diablo
This assignment is worth 5 points added to your final course grade.
Purpose:
In this assignment, you will write a 2-page paper analyzing and writing about theclimateof Mount Diablo. You will be graded on your breadth of knowledge of the course material, and your ability to apply it relevantly to the facts that you will be presented.
At the minimum, your paper should include:
- A climograph for Mount Diablo, showing both a table of the monthly average precipitation and temperature data, and the graph of these data.
- An analysis of the climograph, identifying the climate zone by name and Köppen-Geiger classification.
- A discussion of the controls on the climate that produce this pattern.
- A discussion of the dominant pressure and weather systems that contribute to this climate pattern.

World Regional Climate Centerdata.
Mount Diablo Junction (045195)climate center data. The web page that opens contains data that is ready to be put into theclimograph template spreadsheet. (Note, that to get the monthly mean temperature, you will need to average the Average Max and Average Min temperatures for each month.
Writing the Paper:
Your paper should be at least two full pages long, double spaced with standard margins (1 inch top and bottom, 1.25 inches left and right), and no larger than a 12-point standard font (Times New Roman or Arial are acceptable). Primary information should be gleaned from the information above, but you are encouraged to use other descriptive sources of information about the climate of Mount Diablo. Cite your sources within the text, and list your references after the text of your paper (the references, charts and climograph arenotpart of the minimum two pages).
