Each class member is assigned Case Study 2.A government facility develops and manufactures military weapons at a remote location. Due to the sensitive nature of the product, security is a high priority. The perimeter of the site is secure and external access is severely limited; internal controls, however, need to be more restrictive. What measures would you take to do so? Include the following in your discussion: locks, windows, doors, security containers, and storage areas.

Situation Analysis
A government facility that develops and manufactures military weapons is set-up in a remote
location. The perimeter is safeguarded whereas ther

the interior controls.
Challenges Involved
While designing security for the interior controls, the basic challenge involves designing and
executing an effective security plan. An integrated security plan has three elements that work
well mutually. One is the physical security; the second is the operational security while the
third is the policies set for the company.
Understanding the Facility
The basic understanding of what all is being protected and the possible threats would help
design a better and effective integrated security plan for the facility. The elements that are
being protected would involve the people who work at the facility, the daily working i.e. the
operations of the facility. The operations would involve the daily shifts, deliveries along with
maintenance. The element like information sources along with the communications, both
internal and external, also needs protection. Terrorism has become very common in the
present times. The possible threats to the facility would include terrorism and theft. Security
is essential to protect the facility against these threats.
The Need to Communicate
The designing and execution of an integrated security plan should never be done in privacy. It
is always good to involve others in this. One should ideally consult the employees, speak to
the experts among security, look into other security plans and consult their insurance agents
before deciding on a plan. There are chances that of getting a low cost and effective security
design for the facility. Talking to the people working in the facility would help understand the
various factors that need protection and what are the vulnerable assets. They are more
knowledgeable about the facility as they work there regularly. In fact, they can help with the
