Summary for Primary Source 1:
This is a letter written to the editor by the girl about the situation of exploitation and hence the hardships she has to face along with other girls when they were working in the shop for their living and sustaining their family after they were forced to leave their native and relocate to America. The shop guy is a bad guy and often took advantages of the girls sexually despite having a family of his own and the girl narrating the same also had to face certain things and resisted. Due to which the foreman often intentionally found faults in her work and also abused and used slang language against her and insulted her in front of others. In such a scenario she left the job and went away with the burden of her parents on her as she supported them with her little earning.
Summary for Primary Source 2:
This letter is written by the person appealing for help to the comrades as he had no work and was left with no money for survival. He was even thinking to end his life rather living in such a state. He gets up very early and look for job advertisement in the paper and then reach the place for interview to see hundreds in the queue already. He had not even had food for two days as he had no money. He actually used to work as an iron worker in his native land in the cavalry and could do variety of works and also drive horses, but as he had a fight with his senior he had to leave the army and elope to America for survival. But after coming here he is left with nothing...
