Introduction
· Identify the employer you have researched. Describe the purpose of the organisation and its size.
Organisation’s values
· Identify the values of a named organisation
Provide comprehensive detail of an organisation’s values including an explanation
of its values. (i.e what the value means) e.g. ‘Doing the right thing’/’integrity’ – explain what this means in the context of the organisation
Organisational awareness
· Identify some facts about the organisation that makes the organisation unique or stand out for you.
Aim to demonstrate strong commercial awareness by researching facts about the organisation. Sources must be provided for each example. e.g. (company annual report, company website, article in newspaper, etc)
Research the work the organization or company is actually doing. This can be demonstrated by discussing how the company might have been recognised (e.g. gained an award) or covered in the news recently (expansion, developments, new focus, etc), or discuss a project led by the company (or better yet, the department you are interested in). For instance, someone applying for the civil service might discuss a particular programme in the department; for a research institute you might discuss a new publication or lecture series; for an industry group a new product.
A range of facts about an organisation can be included. e.g organisational/business goals, a mission statement, etc), names of company clients, etc
but do not just list items – comment on them – what do they mean to you?.
