Introduction
Education policy are proposed to help the school to set rules and regulation that can ensure standard quality learning. Without educational policies it is impossible to impart education fairly
and efficiently. Therefore it is needed to provide the educational needs of the student. In other words the underlying principles and plan necessary for educating the students is known as education policy. They are changed depending upon the culture and society and hence are continually revised and debated. The goal behind proposing educational policy are as follows:
· To impart the students with cultural knowledge
· To prepare the students to become a critical theorist
· To help the student to become a skilled personnel
· To help the students to contend in the international market
State government set the overall education policy. According to the law over a certain age education is compulsory starting between 5 and 8 and ending between ages 16 and 18 depending upon the state. This necessity is satisfied in state qualified private school, public school or permitted home-school program. In most of the schools compulsory education is segregated into 3 stages: elementary school, junior or middle high school, and high school. Children’s are usually segregated based on the age group into grades.
Number of Schools in United States
According to National Centre for Education statistic (NSES) 2015 -16 data there are 132,853 K- 12 schools in the United States. Out of which 88,665 consist of elementary schools (schools starting with grade 6 or lower and with no grade higher than grade 8 which includes middle schools), 26986 consist of Secondary schools (it includes schools with no grade lower than 7), 16511 comprise of combined schools (it includes school starting with grade 6 or below and ending with grade 9 0r above) and 691 consist of other schools (includes school which provides special education, and are not classified by grade span)
