They affect communication and socialization with classmates, friends and professors in several ways. In recent years, the quantity of students possessing cell phones has increased drastically. Cell phones are originally intended to be used for calling, but with the improvements in technology, now you can send text, takes pictures, record audio, video, internet access, and play games, among many other things. The variety of functions of cell phones have expanded significantly, and they have also become more affordable for students. Due to these factors, more and more students own cell phones. However, cell phones can have a negative effect on students. Firstly, cell phones may cause damage to their mental health and high levels of anxiety. According a 2014 life Online Report, 39 percent of Canadian students sleep with their phones in case they received any massages at night. This habit can cause insomnia and it can have a negative effect in concentration and academic performance. It can also cause bad marks, mood changes, and high levels of stress. For instance, on the off chance that you were buckling down on a bit work, thinking hard, and a classmate cellphone rings, it disturbs the entire class. Secondly, cell phones can cause serious disturbance in reality causing many students to be involved in accidents, serious falls, run over by vehicles and fatal injuries, because they check their phones while walking. finally, cell phones these days lead to lack of social connections between students and their classmates. They become so isolated in their phones that they do not interact at all. This not only happen to teenager, but also affects youngers children. According to Technology and Media Scholar guide Douglas Rushkoff, "It is common for teenagers and kids to engage their online friends and ignore real life around them.” This is because instead to socialize, they communicate whit them on their cell phones instead. To conclude, cell phones must be banned at schools because it harms the way students communicate with peers. Cell phones also have a negative impact on learning, distracting students from what is going on in the classroom. Therefore, aside well as having a negative impact on students, social and academic lives, cell phones can also be a safety hazard.
