Can you help me to write the report. I dont know how to make.
BY 123 Enzyme Lab Report Biology Enzyme Lab Report Report topic is chapter 6-Toucan manual This report is to be done on chapter 6 of the Toucan manual. There is a set of results photos in the module, look for “models & specimens”. These are the data to use within the report. Sections to report (in sequential order): Title Introduction Materials & Methods Results Discussion Conclusions References Each section must have its respective label Reports, drafts, or final version must be typed (12pt font), any other format will not be graded Plagiarism will be penalized Proofread before you submit; check typos, subject/verb agreement, punctuation, comma use (commas are free, use where needed) Verb tense changes at a prescribed point in report; make note of this Each section must have its own respective header Sections do not have to begin on a clean sheet; if there is space on a preceding page, use it Title Page Must include all four factors (temp, pH, enzyme conc., & substrate conc.) Must include enzyme name Include your name Introduction Must provide your audience background info; gives basis to make hypotheses later References must be cited as background info is provided; every paragraph must have at least one citation References must be published books or journals (no dictionaries, magazines, lecture notes, etc…); online sources are restricted to scientific journals Provide background about enzymes (what they are, what they do, etc), then have subsequent paragraphs on how certain factors may influence their activity (keep at college level) Introduction con’t. Must include info about the enzyme being used (what’s its name, where does it come from, what rxn does it catalyze) Must flow; be sure the paragraphs tie together Must not be one “solid” block of text; there must be paragraphs No footnotes, super or subscripts Citation format is (author, year) Hypotheses Must include both a null and alternate/alternative hypothesis for each of the four factors Null hypothesis = no effect if factor is varied Alternate/alternative hypothesis = will be an effect if factor is varied Materials & Methods Point of report where the verb goes past tense Should be written well enough that the section could be used to redo the experiment, with no question Include exact amounts, certain sequence of steps if given, certain methods Don’t write as a numbered list of steps Materials & methods con’t. Procedures will be done in quartets must include all four sets of qualitative procedures, even though each student only does one factor Must include method of recording data Results Must include all four sets of data Each set must be displayed either in tabular or graphic format; tables may be easier to deal with since the data is qualitative Tables are titled and numbered (sequentially) at the top Graphs/figures are titled and numbered (sequentially) at the bottom Results con’t. Tables/figures must be computer generated; no hand drawn items will be allowed Each table/figure must have a paragraph Paragraph is to compare/summarize data for that particular factor; point out any trend(s) Note examples of table and figure on handout Discussion Must explicitly state which hypothesis (null or alternative) gets accepted for each factor; use data to substantiate this Must compare to references; the ones cited in the intro are the same that must be cited and compared to in this section Point out any abnormalities in trends and speculate about possible sources of error Discussion con’t. Include at least one practical application for the study (i.e. why is it beneficial to know such info) Conclusions Must have a conclusion for each factor Example: if data shows optimal pH for catecholase was 8.0, then it would be stated “The optimal pH for catecholase activity was 8.0”; NOTHING ELSE IS TO BE SAID Never explain anything in conclusions If data set was inconclusive then state that and indicate more studying should be done References Must have a minimum of 3 sources (can include the Campbell Biology text & Toucan Manual) May not include dictionaries, lecture notes, online websites, encyclopedias Sources must be published works (have library of Congress number) No internet sources unless it’s an online version of a scientific journal References con’t. Sources must be at least 1970 or more recent with publication Use hanging indentation style (MLA) format Don’t forget to include pages used on sources
