The van der Waals equation of state can be used to calculate Volume of a real gas at moderate Pressure. van der Waals equation and all related data are given below: P = RT/V - b - a/V^2 Polynomial form of van der Waals equation: f(V) = PV^3 - (bP + RT) V^2 + aV - ab R = 0.0821 litre-atm/degree K-mol; a = 13.72; b = 0.1164 a. Express the above equation as polynomial in Matlab. Estimate the volume at P = 20 bar and T = 500K. [Use built-in Matlab Function 'roots'.] b. Write an algorithm using bi-section method to calculate the Volume of n-butane at T = 500 K and P = 20 atm. Use ideal gas law to estimate initial range for the volume (i.e. a1 and b1).
