Identification and analysis of current and future challenges
Overview
The current report is based on the provided case study. International food group is the largest trader of food products in the world. The range of food products is wide. They are breakfast cereals, pizza, cheese, snacks and many more. Almost every kind food products seem to have their logo marked in the food packaging. Recently, a Canada based food Product Company named “Glow Foods” made a tie up with IFG. The company is run by Josh, the strength of the organization is small However, Glow Foods have a track record of generating high revenues out of innovative ideas. Glow Food products were also able to create hype among the young and young adult people.
Their products went viral. The working strategy and procedure followed new age ideas. They used social networking and other multimedia as a part of their marketing strategy. Josh was introduced with his team of millennial, a bunch of fresh minded people who have had experience in different media platforms. They were on full swing from the very first day of their work. At the end of the week, they have come up with a detailed set of preliminary ideas. However, the problems and issues started pouring in from the very beginning.
Current Challenges
Internal communication only followed professional way of communication that is traditional emailing. Accessing the instant messaging apps such as facebook messenger, whatsapp etc need prior approval from the higher authority groups. Therefore, the first challenge that the group faced is restriction of using technology at the basic level. They demanded innovative, technology based ideas; however, they did not agree to make the communication process smoother by giving them the permission of accessing common, famous messaging apps. The next challenge was the novice attitude of the team members. Although, they had prior experience of several media platforms, they were facing problems at the larger corporate environment. They were facing issues coping up with the new environment.
The presentation also showed that all the ideas were supremely innovative and seemed to be fruitful. However, they overlooked the possible outcomes of benefits. There was also no strategy to handle negative customer feedbacks, which in turn could lead to reputation risks of IFG (Laudon and Laudon, 2015). Customer feedbacks are one of the most crucial parts of IFG marketing strategy. However, the team neglected the customer feedback management segment regarding their proposed set of plans.
The team has also come up with another innovative way of accessing data. They have thought to introduce cloud computing theory in this plan for rapid implementation of ideas. They thought that cloud will be enough to maintain databases and they will be able to link the databases whenever they are ready to implement any new idea. However, the big issue arrived as they were completely unaware of the fact that IFG does not have any kind of accommodation for cloud in their existing architecture. Therefore, lack of implementing cloud theory in the system architecture of such a giant company in this era is a challenge (Chang, 2016). The company advised the team to come up with new innovative ideas; however, they themselves are not prone to technologies inside their architecture.
Future challenges
Based on the above analysis, the current challenges are clearly stated to taking a toll on the company. However, there are several challenges that can appear in the future. They are as follows. Innovative ideas are always welcomed in any company. However, there is no guarantee of their fruitfulness or their acceptance in the market. Some ideas turn out to be a long run idea whereas some fails at the beginning. Casting new ideas always requires track record at test phase. According to Brandon (2016), introducing modern idea in the market, testing the ideas in real world is a necessary step. However, playing with new ideas does not always pay off. All the money invested for the early phase testing goes in vain. Since IFG is large company, playing with innovative ideas requires lot of money. However, the company needs flow of money in every sector for running the organization seamlessly. Therefore, they are unable to invest a lump sum for testing the ideas every time. Money is wasted for each half baked idea (Abbasi, Sarker and Chiang, 2016). The company cannot take the risk of wasting money every time an innovative idea is brought in the market. Handling databases can be tough in future as IFG does not have a Cloud base in architecture yet. Therefore, implementing new ideas will be hectic in future days.
Recommendations
Based on the above identification and analysis of the case study there are few recommendations that will help the company to achieve their goal and meet the objectives. The recommendations are as follows.
Information system for the company
It has been seen that the company restricts their employees from social media communication. Employees are only allowed to communicate via emailing or they can report to their respective authorities. Accessing social media needs permission for effortless communication. Therefore, it can be recommended that they should include social media messaging within their internal communication. The team should include a new information system for effortless communication. Social media messengers such as facebook messenger, whatsapp are very popular and useful tool now days. They are known to have better communication experience. As stated by Sun, Strang and Firmin (2017), clear Communication within a team plays a key role in an organization. Desired outcomes become easy in case the communication is clear and effortless.
The idea of implementing own information system will also enable the team to achieve their goals. Information system will save all the records and valuable information safely. The...
