BSBWOR501 - Personal Development Plan
Instructions
For this assessment, you will need to respond to the following tasks. These tasks will need to be completed and submitted in a professional, word processed format. Each numbered task must be a Mid Submission. It is recommended that you discuss ideas with your fellow colleagues to ensure your actions are responsive to the assessment method.
If you are not currently working, please discuss Task 1 and 2 in relation to a position you have previously held or your preferred job role.
Task 1 of 2
1.Your task is to develop your own plan to meet at least four goals of your job role including the following:
a.Establish your personal work goals/career objectives in relation to your position description
b.Set the plan and for each goal discuss how you will meet your work priorities
c.Discuss how you will develop and maintain your professional competence
2.To establish and set your goals you could use the following template or alternatively you can create your own. You may want to use a diary (either paper or electronic) to enter your goals for work.
Task 2 of 2
1.You are to then complete a personal development plan for your development in relation to your job role. The “Personal Development Plan Template” below will assist you with this task or you can create your own. There is an example of a completed personal development plan provided for you.
2.Both completed templates must be submitted as part of your assessment for this unit.
The Assessment
Team-work or group-work is NOT permitted for this assessment (this is to ensure authenticity of the work, that the learners has actually done it themselves and not relied on others). Plagiarism is NOT permitted and will NOT be tolerated. Plagiarism will result in a NYS (Not Yet Satisfactory) mark and a written warning (see student handbook which is available on the Home Page for further details).
If you are unsure of the requirements of a question, activity or project – please contact your trainer for clarification. Reasonable adjustment options are available however this must be arranged with your trainer prior to assessment. If you have existing relevant work experience or completed existing previous studies that show competency in this unit, you may apply for recognition of prior learning (RPL). If you wish to apply for RPL, upload supporting documents and evidence to the evidence of prior learning folder (which can be found in: Profile | Learning Plan | Evidence of prior learning) and then notify your trainer/assessor.
You can access relevant legislation, regulations, standards and codes, workplace documentation and resources either online or in the Learning Resources Folder. The assessment must be uploaded to this platform in a PDF file with a maximum size of 5 Mb. The assessment project must be professionally formatted.
Evidence Criteria
This exercise is about you demonstrating that you are able to; ensure personal work goals, plans and activities reflect the organisation’s plans, and own responsibilities and accountabilities; take initiative to prioritise and facilitate competing demands to achieve personal, team and organisational goals and objectives; assess personal knowledge and skills against competency standards to determine development needs, priorities and plans; identify, evaluate, select and use development opportunities suitable to personal learning style/s to develop competence; Participate in networks to enhance personal knowledge, skills and work relationships; develop a personal development plan which includes career objectives and an action plan and that you are able to identify and develop new skills to achieve and maintain a competitive edge.
Observation Checklist
In order to satisfactorily (S) pass this assessment, an assessor will check to ensure that ALL of the following points form part of your written report presentation. As such, in the report you MUST, in your own words:
- Identify any news skills that you require
- Create and analyse personal work goals
- Analyse your personal priorities
- Determine what the competency standards are in your field of work or the work you are aiming to join.
- List your personal skills and the skills that you need to develop
- And you must join or show preparation to join a professional network
- And you must produce a professional document and incorporate appropriate vocabulary and grammatical structure (e.g. the document must have a title, paragraphs must have the same style throughout and normal size font, it must not have blank pages, it must be in portrait orientation, it must have page numbers, it must not have blank carriage returns, it must have normal margins, it must be in A4 and it must look good)
