Broeing is an aerospace company that will be launching a satellite next month containing new instrumentation critical for constructing the next generation "5G" wireless network. The payload is highly sensitive to solar radiation, so the Broeing engineering team is working to fabricate an optimal design. Unfortunately, 2014 is forecast to be an active year for solar flares, and the team currently assesses a 20% probability that there will be a "Direct Flare" event; for example, when a flare will impact the integrity of the space systems.
The Broeing team draws the following decision tree, whose prospects are the value measure v that is used in Broeing's M-curve.
