Boschveld Indigenous Chicken Company The Boschveld Free Range Chickens were bred on Mantsole Ranch, near Radium in Limpopo Province. It was bred from crosses between Venda, Ovambo and Matabele chickens and is recognized as a synthetic indigenous chicken breed. In general they are light brown with white feathers in between that gives the Boschveld Chicken a unique colouring that blends into Africa. Alertness and survival skills are a strong trait when it comes to defense of predators. Hardiness is an inbred trait to withstand poultry diseases and to produce in free range conditions. It is because of these characteristics that Boschveld has gained a lot of popularity and the company has established a large market in South Africa and many other countries in Africa.
