By the virtue of this assignment, I have selected All God's Chillen Had Wings by Frederick Douglass and Norton Anthology of African American Literature by Smith Gates.
Essentially this a folktale by Caesar Grant that is basically inspired by the "The People Could Fly". This story actually explains the struggle and triumph of blacks. How the black fights and at the same time how the Africans regained their freedom as well as power within the mentorship of elders in Africa. Irrespective, how much restrictions are applied there is always an aspiration for freedom. The author Caesar Grant, starts by explaining the scenario prior to slavery in Africa and how opportunities we there for them to achieve anything in life. Major theme of the book is about creating an egalitarian culture where there are no hierarchies and opportunities are based on merit. However, due to slavery generally the Africans transform from being humans to entirely powerless.
