Question 1
a) To find the IP address of the Facebook we can use the Domain Name System which is also known as the DNS in the network language. For the Facebook it will have 53 as the destination port number.
b) Adam has the opportunity to use hypertext transfer protocol which can allow him to get all the content from the web server of Facebook. The browser will assume that Adam and server has establish a secure communication. For this it can use 80 as the destination port number.
c) Transmission control protocol can be used due to its features of secure and reliable communication.
d) Adam and Facebook web server can use 20 devices for the Internet working and each day while will be able to reduce the TTL field by one. Initially they were 15 field for the TTL in this case and they were allowing the packet to traverse through all 15 devices. If the TTL field becomes zero then the packet will be discarded and the sender will receive an ICMP error message from the internetworking device,
Flow Control in TCP
The flow control in TCP means that TCP will be responsible to make sure that sender is not creating a burden for the receiver by sending more packets at a fast speed which cannot be consumed by the receiver. It is similar to the back pressure which is present in the distributed literary system literature. The idea behind this is that a node which is receiving the data will be responsible for sharing some feedback to the node which is sharing the data let it understand about the current situation. It is important to understand that this topic is not same as the congestion control. There is some overlap between the mechanism which is used by the TCP to provide the services but they both have different features. The congestion control is used to prevent a node from overwhelming the whole network, but the flow control is used to manage the flow at the end node.
