Introduction
The search for curing diseases like cancer, diabetes, sickle cell anaemia and Parkinson’s has been difficult and long. Also, the searching solutions to injuries in spinal cord and other debilitating injuries are proved to be slow relying on mechanic
al technology. Using stem cells for solution is gaining popularity since they are discovered.
Discovering the stem cell was raised by observing anomalous teratocarcinoma. It has been discovered by scientists that tumour cells having origins in embryonic cells and the cells that are taken from the tumour could result in producing various types of cells while injecting it elsewhere. Such cells were called as stem cells (Shi et al. 2017); there was a progress in the research to use cell feeder layers for establishing which are now called as embryonic cells, starting with the search in order to cure leukaemia- the first experiment that uses stem cell was of transplantation of bone marrow in non-radiated mice that result to form multilineage colonies as well as to the concept that stem cells are used for medical techniques.
Scientists started to work with the use of hematopoietic stem cells that is the stem cell giving rise to every cell of the system of the blood and go on developing the toughest bone marrow transplanting process with the use of these cells (Ferreira et al. 2018). Simultaneously, the concern of the research is with the properties of non-hematopoietic stem cells; particularly have the focus on if the sole source was carcinomas.
For aiding such endeavour, the efforts are focusing on the enzymes as well as the factors which characterised stem cells. A primary role to maintain the main feature of pluripotency was shown by an enzyme, alkaline phosphatase in the year 1970 which is the capability of a cell for differentiating into most types of cell in a cell of the stem (Workman et al. 2017). Specifically, alkaline phosphatase was involved in uncovering the identifications of other enzymes related to pluripotency, for example, SSEA-3, NANOG, and SSEA-4 (Garcia-Reitboeck et al. 2018). The makers, as well as the enzymes all, were responsible for the capability of growing embryonic cells indefinitely in the state of pluripotent under the conditions that are optimal without any differentiation.
After that in the 1980s, there has been establishment of first no carcinoma embryonic stem cells from mice which result in generating ES cell lines from the people. Stem cells are antique ads their capability for differentiating to any number of various types of the cell, that depends on the kind of stem cell (Schwartz et al. 2015). They may be totipotent, multipotent or pluripotent etc. The meaning of pluripotency of a cell is the capability of the cell for differentiating to every three layers-ectoderm, endoderm as well as mesoderm.
There is a rapid self-renew of stem cells which makes them perfect for regenerating undamaged cells with the genetic makeup correctly in fields where cells are damaged greatly. However, such capability is potential for causing growth of the tumour and malignant tumour growth as well (Sasaki et al. 2015). Such two characteristics are important to stem cell medicine, so the focus of the scientists is to find pluripotent and totipotent cells which can proliferate like ESCs. Due to the restrictions as well as the safety risks to use embryonic cells in the bodies of the adult, it was denied by the community of the scientists that to use own cell of one was the perfect method for reducing the chances of immune responses to external information of genetics.
