For each article:
Write down the name of the article.
Summarize what you understand about the article in relation to teaching and
understanding children and families.
Choose and write down one quote or
big idea
that strikes you as important. Write it
down and describe why you think it is important and how you would use this information
in your work or life with children and families. Make a connection to your own practices
or thinking. You can agree or you can disagree. You just need to describe it.
Use the RUBRIC below as a guide to answering the questions
You should have at least 2 pages typed and
double spaced.
Rubric:
For each answer:
4-5 points: (5 means you did an exceptional job)
You have written out the question or the title of the article that you are reflecting on.
Information from your reading is quoted or clearly referred to. It is evident that you have read
and reflected on the material.
You have made a connection to your own practices or thinking.
All parts of the reflection are answered.
All or almost all of the reflection utilizes correct spelling and grammar and they are typed and
double space.
2-3 points Your reflections show some thoughtfulness and provide some detail and personal
reflection. Most of the reflection is complete. Most directions are followed. Writing is mostly
accurate.
0-1 points Reflection shows little or no thoughtfulness. Answers are partial or incomplete. Little
detail is provided. Directions are not followed. Writing is characterized by misspellings,
grammar errors.
