Be certain the recorder is motivated and/or willing to record. (If not, the practitioner’s task is to develop a situation in which the necessary motivation can be produced, whether this is through support and encouragement by the practitioner or others, or through the development of a miniintervention program to see that the recorder is reinforced for his or her efforts.)
