For this assessment task, students will write a Briefing Note to the Minister recommending a policy change that improves the health of the population. You are required to choose a topic from the list provided below. Your arguments must be supported by citing peer-reviewed academic literature, credible government and non-government organisation sources, and/or official statistical resources (e.g. ABS, AIHW, OECD and WHO) as appropriate.

Introduction
Tuberculosis is epidemic disease since ages and several steps taken by government over the period of time for removing this life threatening disease from world especially in developing countries but still we are deal with and not came up with any effective and long lasting solution for supressing tuberculosis from spreading or completely removed. Why it is so difficult to find an effective method this shows we are lagging behind to achieve of our target to see tuberculosis free world. Now if all want to came up with a concrete policy which helps us to frame structure and described much needed steps to taken which leads us to removing tuberculosis from world map. Government have to play a major role to and need to implement a well planned and useful policy which ultimately helps in improving health of people and make them less suffer due to this life threatening disease.
History and Epidemiology of Tuberculosis
The causative agent of tuberculosis (TB) is Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis) history of disease is quite far as traces of TB found is Egyptians in 2400BC. Almost every individual is carrier of tuberculosis bacteria but only 10% able to develop disease when immune system compromises. Developing countries along with developed countries facing several issues with eradicating TB from population due to people suffering from this invading bacteria and do compromises in individual health and safety. Dr. Benjamin Marten in 1720 does a remarkable discovery and proposed that minute creatures are responsible to cause tuberculosis. Barberis, Bragazzi, Galluzzo & Marti (2017). After this discovery Dr. Robert Koch in 1882 develops staining technique which helps him to observe these bacteria for the very first time in history. Cambau & Drancourt (2014). Mycobacterium Bovis Calmette-Guerin (BCG) is vaccine developed for tuberculosis whose name suggested on the basis of scientist take initiative on this vaccine development was first administered in 1921. BCG shows 80% efficacy in providing protection in children but its variable efficiency in different population stopping it from being perfect. BCG shows less effective in adult and almost of no use to individuals who already exposed toTB. Further chemotherapy developed which helps to win our fight against TB but still we are struggling phase and lagging behind in this battle.
Despite being a disease which comes from ancient ages and even after discovery of 90 year old vaccine and chemotherapy which invented 60 years back still this disease killing hundreds of people every year. According to a report of World Health Organization (WHO) the cases registered in 2015 and 2016 of TB exceeding cases of HIV/AIDS which is not a good sign. Houben & Dodd (2016).
