Introduction
The people in Australia have a high demand, and unique preferences of different and stylish hair styles. So, the hair salon industry in Australia is very big and satisfies its customers through the new fashionable styles every time. A very massive hair styling salon chain The Cut Short is running successfully in Australia by offering budgeted hairdressing and day by day improving their strategies in order to improve their service quality and business operations (Zhong, 2016). But very recently the salon has got a complaint by the customers that the waiting time has increased a lot in between the check in and seating for the hairstyling. Thus, the company wants an analytics to improve their servicing and enhance their profit margins. The company wants to get recommendations and suggestions so that they could improve the service quality and satisfy their customers more by cutting short their waiting time in the salon (Sharma, Tam, Kim, Zhan & Su, 2017).
Question No. 1.
Analysis of the business operations
The present scenario of the business
Currently the business, Cut Short in Australia is using the modern technology that is internet in giving the best service to its customers (Sharma, Wu & Su, 2016). The company is offering online booking service to its customers where the customer can pre book an appointment according to the service they want to avail. They can choose their preferences like trimming, hair cutting, hair styling etc. with the time and date they want, on online pre-booking appointment. As per the case study, not only the pre-booking appointments are available for the customers but different online payment methods are also available. For the safer side, the salon offers the customers to pay at least 24 hours before their scheduled appointment for getting it fixed, and a discount is also available for the customers who pay the considerate amount on time. The website of the salon offers different offers to the customers like providing a fixed discount every time the customer pre-books an appointment. But again the salon for its safe side and for providing satisfaction to its loyal customers impose extra money as a fine to the customers who cancels the pre-fixed appointment, or arrives late for the appointment or post pone or pone its appointment. These all facilities are been incorporated for enhancing the customers satisfaction. As per the Case Study, currently the business is also operating in selling the products of hair care online. The main focus of the salon is to provide better and rapid services to its customers; the online booking is done for this only so that the regular customers may enjoy the discounted rates. As per the case study the customers of Cut Short were losing their very valuable time in between the check in and the service delivery while seating and thus this online booking will tempt the customers to gain the discounted rates and surely the products would also be purchased online, expanding the scope of customers and the company ("Out of the box", 2016).
Associated Risks with the Implementation of the online strategy
Although very appropriate strategy is been used by the Cut Short, Australia by implementing the latest technology in the service world of hair salon, but it is always there that opportunities comes with threats. This potential opportunity of making people pre-book an appointment online and earn a fixed discount brings potential risk also with it when the customers had to pay extra amount of money in case of delay in the pre-booked appointment or in case of cancellation the appointment (McCann, 2019). For some customers this paying of additional amount may not be bearable, because as per the case study the salon is developed as a budgetary salon and usually the low income people or the middle class cater the salon as it names itself as low-budget in the market. In this case the charge of the extra amount incurred may not be tolerable for some of the customers and they mar treat it as a harassment
