Back in Chapter 6 we learned that carbon dioxide is a by-product of cellular respiration, and discussed its role as an important greenhouse gas that influences global climate change. Chapter 18 explains the carbon cycle, a set of natural processes that repackage carbon into various forms including carbon dioxide. Since carbon dioxide is a natural gas that is part of a natural cycle, some have argued thatconcerns over increasing atmospheric carbon dioxide levels are unfounded.

Task: Use your textbook’s discussion of the carbon cycle and other scientific sources to investigate and answer the following questions:75 words per question

  1. In the absence of human activities, what is the natural fate of the carbon in fossil fuels?

  2. How do human activities change this fate? Explain.

  3. Based on your findings, do you think thatconcerns over increasing atmospheric carbon dioxide levels are unfounded?

In your response posts, critique two students’ answers to Question #3 above. Is their response supported by the information they presented? Did the student overlook any important information?

Be sure to cite and reference your sources in APA format so others can check them out when responding to you.

1. Natural Fate of the Carbon in Fossil Fuels in Absence of Human Activities
Humans use fossil fuels, mainly petroleum and coal, to produce energy to carry on their work. The fossil fuels are produced after the pants as well as animals die and they are buried for millions of years, after which they form follies fuels. Mirandola and Lorenzini (2016) have discussed that if suddenly, all the human activities are stopped then the carbon cycle...
