The Task Digital Media Response: Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics This assignment hypothetically asks you to give a 3-5 minute presentation to a particular audience at a childcare centre. • You are to imagine you are presenting to a group of fellow colleagues or parents, or other community/education stakeholders. • You are expected to utilise the Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics and demonstrate understanding of some core principles and responsibilities of early childhood teachers. In this assignment, you are required to video record yourself on any digital device (e.g. your phone, computer, iPad, tablet, etc.) and discuss the following: a. Drawing on the Early Childhood Australia (ECA) Code of Ethics • please briefly explain the overall purpose of the document; • discuss its significance and relevance to EC settings b. Select two core principles from the ECA Code of Ethics and discuss their significance and relevance to EC settings. c. Provide a practical example of how one of these two principles could be fostered, developed and fully embraced by educators d. Weight 40% 2 Task 1 Scaffold Note: • Duty of care, Personal boundaries, Professional boundaries • Belonging, Being and Becoming: The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia, • National Quality Standards. Your Video Presentation should be from 3-5 minutes in length. This is to be recorded and submitted with the Written submission into Turnitin. The Written Submission must be no longer than 1000 words and include the following: • A brief statement of who your imagined audience is that you are addressing in your video presentation. a. Using the Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics (ECA COE): 10 Marks • demonstrate an understanding of the ECA Code of Ethics (document’s) purpose, • demonstrate and understanding of its significance and relevance to EC settings b. Referring to your two chosen core principles from the ECA COE: 10 Marks • discuss each core principle and • demonstrate an understanding of the relevance and significance of each core principle to EC settings. c. Providing a practical example of ONE of the two chosen core principles 10 Marks • demonstrate how this ONE CORE PRINCIPLE can be fostered, developed and fully embraced by educators. d. Identify two responsibilities that educators have 20 Marks • in order that these two selected core principles are put into action in relation to children. e. The 1000 WORD WRITTEN SUBMISSION is to demonstrate: • a clear writing style with clearly expressed thoughts and points of view • adherence to the word limit • excellent grammar, syntax, spelling, etc. • correct APA referencing 10 Marks f. THE 3-5 MINUTE VIDEO SUBMISSION is to include all of the above. • You will be expected to speak for a minimum of 3 minutes ( and no longer than 5 minutes) and demonstrate how you can make your video presentation warm and welcoming, clear and engaging for your chosen audience 20 Marks
