1. The rights of elderly people relate to many dimensions and some of them include right to respect of living and right to social security. It has been often viewed that the these rights stand as compromised, when it comes to understand fully what elderly community anticipates—sociall
y and legally both—from other age groups. These may belong to the family or to the society in which elderly people live. Right to have a respected state of living is the primary one; at times, elderly people are mentally or physically abused without any strong reason against them. It makes their life troublesome and at the same time, it affects their social security as well. the rights to live freely includes formal recognition in society with all values intact in it i.e. they are respected well and a sense of security is generated within their personality by enforcing law in it (Blundell, 2012).
2. The skills and knowledge that elderly people need to understand are the knowledge of the law and how they can avail this knowledge to themselves. It is more like an option that s given on behalf of the legal system. The knowledge of the legal provisions helps them to know more about their rights of living with freedom. It gives them formal access to the social security and serves as the power in their hand against any kind of discrimination that can possibly be done to them. for example, the availability of a legal assistant against the police detention, if any occurs unnecessarily, is one of the fundamental rights that elderly people can avail. If they are detained by police for investigation, they can have access to their lawyer first so that they can determine what questions they are supposed to answer. Similarly, they can raise voice against physical discrimination done with family premises by law; all they need to know is the fact that it is their right to have a secured life (Blundell, 2012).
3. Advocacy is the suggestion or encouragement or projection of a cause in plain parlance. Advocacy involves a difference of opinion or a disagreement and the need to explain the 'knot' to consider the root cause and then identify the results. Mediation advocacy pre-supposes the mediator's support for counsel/party resolution and projection of a cause. The greatest contrast between advocacy and mediation is their priorities. Advocacy varies from mediation in that only one voice is centered. Mediation is a mechanism in which parties involved in a conflict work together to try to find a settlement, with or without their individual supporters. For elderly community, mediation is required when the conflicts can be resolved through intellectually driven discussions. They need advocacy for the sake of sustaining their rights to live in society (Blundell, 2012).
4. The options that elderly community has to secure their rights and needs can be legally addressed. At...
