In a survey conducted by OneClass, which polled more than 10,000 current freshmen, sophomores, and juniors from 200-plus colleges and universities across the country, it has been observed that 56% of the college student dropout because they can no longer afford the high tuition fee of their colleges. Therefore, a need for free education all across United States can be felt to support these students so that they can complete their education. Discussion As the dropout rate all across United States is increasing rapidly due to the high tuition fee, which more than 50% of the students cannot afford to pay, a need for free education can easily be sensed across the nation. It has been observed that a huge population across the country is under stress as they are unable to afford the pricey education in United States and therefore most of the students in the nation have been suffering from debts have been experiencing financial burden. Due to this stress and financial burden a number of students in the nation have been suffering from depression leading to serious consequences such as indulgence into criminal activities and even suicides. Supporting the arguments being presented by Britt, Ammerman, Barrett and Jones (2018), it can be said that these educational debts have been contributing to the increasing likelihood of discontinuing college among the young adults of the nation. The toll of financial stress on students can be seen through their educational and social engagements on the campus, which finally contributes to the low retention rates of the students. In such a situation, it is essential that free education should be imparted to the students so as to relieve student debt and financial burden and stress. This will allow the students to focus on their studies and pursue the career of their interest rather than dropping out from the college to pay their credit card bills or to repay their educational debts.
