  1. At the start of this course, we introduced the concept of open systems as a way to better understand the nature of organizations and strategic management. As you remember, an organization, as an open system, takes inputs from the external environment and provides outputs. What we would like you to do is to discuss how the strategic management process is reflective of organizations as open systems. Explain the concept of alignment and discuss how the open systems perspective contributes to the various analytical frameworks and theories you learned in this course to assist managers in aligning the organization to the environment. You should include both external and internal analytical frameworks as well as consider the role of strategy. You may wish to include one or more examples of specific companies (which can include your client or any other organization) to illustrate how the open system perspective relates to and contributes to other perspectives.

At first, it is significant to note here that open system theory is based on the concept that every organization has been structured around the unique goals and culture that belongs specifically to the organization only (Meadows, 2008). There are some determining factors to this open system approach; these many include general, specific and environment in which the organization operates.
