Assignment Remit The guidelines: Construct an essay that provides a critical analysis of one public health initiative aimed at improving the health of children, young people and/or families. The essay should cover the Learning Outcomes by: 1. Selection of an appropriate initiative 2. Providing a critical analysis of political, structural and cultural factors/constraints influencing successful implementation. Points to consider: Explain the initiative and the context: - What is the initiative? - Why is this initiative necessary (i.e. health inequalities) - What is the evidence for the issue? - Why is this issue occurring – explanations for the initiative. - What are the aims of the initiative? - What is the evidence base/theory for its design? - How is it being implemented? The conditions of implementation i.e. funding, context, staffing. - So …is it likely it to work? Include a consideration of factors influencing the health behaviours of the client group. For example: social-economic status, ethnicity, gender and/or age variations. - Provide an evaluation supported by reference to an appropriate ‘health theory.’ Please note: the initiative/topic chosen must not have been covered in any other assessment in your programme of study.
