Design a study to examine the effect of crime on your community from both a quantitative and qualitative approach.
Title of Study: Discussing the relationship between domestic
violence and liquor consumption and purchase among various sections of the society.
Research question: If there is any positive correlation between liquor consumption and domestic violence committed within the community?
Hypothesis: The hypothesis here is that the easy availability of liquor shall result in increased rates of domestic violence. Furthermore, this is also likely to be affected by stability of a person’s lifestyle—i.e., those with unstable means of income in high cost of living areas might be more prone to domestic violence when they have consumed liquor, since they are already under an amount of stress due to the lack of a stable lifestyle.
Sampling Method and Population: A type of correlational research design is to be utilised here, to discover whether there is a positive or negative relation between domestic violence and liquor consumption. The population is to be divided into three strata—lower class, middle class, and upper class, characterised by income level, i.e., below 5 lakhs per annum being lower class, between 5 to 40 lakhs per annum being middle class, and above 40 lakhs per annum being upper class. Of this, 150 people from each stratum to be selected for survey, half of whom shall be working persons, and the other half shall be their dependant spouses, i.e., a total of 450 persons.
Variables in the Study: The independent variable is the cause, i.e., that...
