	Both the theories believed that behavior is result of what is learned from experience. Behaviorist theory believed that people are controlled by environmental influences whereas cognitive theory believed that people have specific intentions and purposes and are goal oriented. It was believed that basis of the learning is by observing others.  It has been claimed by cognitive theory that maladaptive and faulty thinking causes psychological disturbances. If thinking can be change then the resultant disturbances. Cognitive theory deals with the way people act and react to their environment. In cognitive learning, new way of learning is learnt by the clients which is effective too. The primary difference between the two theories is the emphasis on overt behavior in behavioral theory and in cognitive, the focus is on cognition and individual’s thoughts. (Stone, 2012)
	Unlike behaviorism, cognitive theory defines motivation as intrinsic factor.
